The Keep Kern Beautiful Committee Meeting is Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the Public Services Building's Public Meeting Room on the 1st Floor: 2700 M Street, Bakersfield, CA 93301.

Overview

Keep Kern Beautiful

Mission

Keep Kern Beautiful (KKB) serves to protect and beautify our natural environment by means of community engagement, education, and empowerment.

Vision

The KKB’s vision is to inspire a culture of environmentally responsible citizens within the communities of the County of Kern, focusing on areas such as:

  1. Prevention of Litter and Illegal Dumping
  2. Reduction of Waste
  3. Promotion of Recycling
  4. Beautification and Greening

The KKB Committee serves to recommend to the Kern County Board of Supervisors, policies, programs, and specific efforts, which promote the mission statement of KKB, and to actively participate in the implementation of various programs and projects to achieve KKB’s mission statement and vision.

Legal Authority

Established by Board of Supervisors Resolution 2021-024 dated February 9, 2021.

Membership Qualifications

Five members and five alternate members to be appointed by the Board of Supervisors. Each Supervisor shall appoint a member and alternate member to represent their district. A member is eligible to be reappointed if he or she attends at least sixty percent (60%) of KKBC meetings annually.

Term

Two-year term.

Duties

It shall be the responsibility of the committee to:

  1. Engage in a long-term planning process through which it identifies major issues and establishes recommendations for the Board of Supervisors for policies and procedures to promote the beautification of Kern County, improve recycling, and reduce litter
  2. Promote public awareness of the goals and operations of the committee and to enhance public confidence and improve community relations with respect to the committee’s projects
  3. Advise/assist the Board of Supervisors in conducting public education and community outreach for Kern County residents regarding the mission of the committee

Meeting Place and Time

2700 M Street, Bakersfield, CA 93301

Regular meetings are held quarterly on the third Wednesday of each month from 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Compensation

Members shall serve without compensation.

Oath of office is required. No Form 700 Statement of Economic Interests, No Ethics Training required.
